WINSLOW TAYLOR – JAMAICA

Empanada Competition: Sunday August 18th (3:00pm – 4:45pm)

Brawta Caribbean Fusion Cuisine was created in 2014 by Winslow Taylor.  The word “Brawta” is a Jamaican Patois word that means ‘A bit more than the ordinary’.

Brawta Caribbean’s all natural sauces and spices take average everyday food and elevate them to the next level.  Helping home cooks who want to eat healthy without sacrificing flavour.

Growing up in rural Jamaican Winslow learned to appreciate natural fresh ingredients and how to use them to create traditional Jamaican dishes.   As his passion for cooking grew he switched his focus to fusion cuisine, with the vision of creating dishes that combine Caribbean flavours with flavour profiles from other ethnicities.

In 2013, he competed on a Canadian reality cooking show, CBC’s Recipe to Riches in which he won the entree round with his Jammin Jamaican Lobster Bisque. A fusion dish inspired by a French soup, combined with Jamaican pumpkin, coconut milk and Caribbean spices.

After the show, he would get questions about how he achieved the flavours in his cooking and more importantly how someone else can achieve the same.  Those conversations are what has inspired him to create his own product line.  His mission is to bring those wonderful Caribbean flavours to your home in the healthiest and most natural way possible.  Time to make your kitchen, “A bit more than the ordinary”.
